I am so excited to have a fun long weekend! And it’s actually going to be nice out for the most part! I hope you guys enjoy your weekend as well…and to kick it off right I’m going to post some ‘Fun Friday’ Links and videos, they may be a little random, but that’s half the fun!

This video is amazing! I love both of these songs and they way these guys have such a passion for it is really inspiring to me. You may just be inspired to make your own music this weekend!

This is just such a great video with awesome music, dancing and scenery. Truly one of the most inspirational videos I’ve ever seen!

How to Get Out of a ‘Funk’ or Just Plain Bad Mood

Last night it took me hours to fall asleep because I was feeling so blessed about my life that I could not shut my brain down! Yet this morning I woke up at my usual semi-early time and have been in a bad mood since. I had to keep asking myself “Why?” all day. Truly the change in me was huge in just a few hours, but that probably has a lot to do with it; I got very little sleep because I still woke up early. However I decided to turn my ‘funk’ into a game of sorts. I threw out my to do list and kept a running list of all the things that one can do to bring themselves out of a funk and back into the bright and optimistic people we are!

1. Laugh
Seriously! Who doesn’t feel better after a good laugh?! Go to Youtube and watch a few funny videos. Watch your favorite funny movie or show. Call up that friend or family member that never fails to make you bust a gut!

2. Dance! Break out all the cheesy 80’s or 90’s music you can find and dance like no one is watching! Endorphins baby! (Plus it can be a great workout! Kill two birds with one stone.)

3. Nature Studies have shown that getting outside can help us with so many different mental issues. ADD/ADHD patients benefit from spending daily time in nature, so do people with depression. Basically everyone can benefit from spending some time to stop and smell the roses…or grass. Bonus: If it’s sunny out you can get a healthy dose of Vitamin D which we all know can make us a little blue in the winter. Also being outside may mean exercise which equals more endorphins, aka the “feel good” hormones.

4. Workout I’ll admit sometimes the last thing I want to do when I’m in a bad mood is squats and lunges. But after I’m done I always feel at least a little better. Go for a run, do some yoga, or if you happen to be mad at someone or have a little frustration built up-kick boxing is probably the best way to blow off that steam and feel 100 times better quickly!

5. Read There is nothing like escaping into a new world for even just a few minutes.

6. Chocolate Okay so we all want to be healthy and in beach-body shape for summer, however chocolate has been proven to boost moods. Your best bet is to choose a very And take time to savor and ounce of good, quality dark chocolate that is 60% or higher, NOT a candy bar!

7. Meditate Nothing fancy here, seriously you don’t have to be a yogi studying in India to meditate, and it has huge benefits for the body and mind. Two of my favorite resources for meditating are Youtube (search ‘Paul Collier’ for some great relaxation music) or Itunes podcasts (my favorites are ‘My Thought Coach’ or ‘Meditation Station’-these are ready-made soundtracks, all you need is yourself, a quite place to sit and headphones if you feel the need!)

8. Bath or Shower I don’t know about you but I always feel better after a shower, and I usually get my best ideas in the shower so it’s a major Win-Win.

9. Slow down and savor the moment I am all too bad at this but it’s something I am trying to work on much more. 6 Steps to Living in the Moment

10. Music I have some songs that are just automatic pick me ups. Examples: I am so Blessed-Martina McBride, Worlds Greatest-R.Kelly, Unwritten-Natasha Bedingfield, We Live-Superchic[k], Where is the Love?-Black Eyed Peas, You are My Hope-Skillet…and many many more!

If all else fails, take a nap!

The Best YouTube Videos to Help you get Healthier

So many people think that to be healthy you have to spend a lot of time or money to be healthy. That is simply just not the case! Today will be my first ‘Fun Friday’ post (every Friday I’ll post links to videos or other websites or something else fun and inspiring to start your weekend off right!) I hope these videos can teach you and inspire you to live a healthier life so you can be happier as well. And the best part is all of these videos are short and free so it goes to show that being healthy doesn’t have to be time-consuming or expensive!

I love this video because for the last week or so this is exactly what I’ve been doing every morning for breakfast! I love doing smoothies with fruit, soy milk, a little flax meal and Spirutein or Fruitein packets for vitamins, energy and protein. I have seriously noticed a HUGE difference in my energy levels, not to mention my weight, but in this case energy and nutrition were my first priorities with this one.

Of course I love Kandee Johnson so I have to put this up! I haven’t tried the hempshake but my best friend just ordered it so I will be trying it soon and I’ve done research on it and it is pretty nutritious and has a lot of good reviews. Also I just think Kandee is inspiring all around so I encourage you to watch her other videos too!

I love this video from pro-volleyball player & mom Gabby Reece! She has a lot of good healthy eating tips and make sure you watch till the end of the video because the last thing she says is a huge tip for healthy eating!

I LOVE Tara Stiles yoga videos! She also has a lot of videos on other healthy things so definitely check those out. She is very right when she says that yoga can help you lose weight, it has been helping me for the last few weeks and after this video you WILL be sore. Especially if you do a couple of her other yoga videos after it which I recommend you do to make a longer workout!

I also love Pilates in addition to yoga! Both will give you a great toning workout and make you feel so wonderful after. I really like Pop Pilates because she is very upbeat and really good at putting together a good workout that will help you see results! The best part is all of her workouts are under 10 minutes a piece and you will really feel them the next day!

Remember: Being healthy and happy first starts with your thoughts! So think positive, be as happy and grateful as you can for the many blessings you already have in your life and I promise you more will come and things will get better! Thinking positive is free and the best thing you could do for your health and happiness!

How to Turn Admiration or Jealousy into Something Positive

We all have those people in our lives that we see and wish so hard that we could be, right? I know I do, and with all the media we get everyday we are constantly seeing celebrities and people who we also wish we could be like. Facebook and other social media websites allow us instant access to people we see and want to be everyday. In a way this can be healthy, seeing someone successful, healthy and happy and then taking steps to strive to be like them. But for some people it can go too far in the other direction. Especially if this is someone we are near all the time, for instance someone we go to school with or possibly even a family member.

Sometimes when we see these people who just seem to have it all and are as close to perfect as possible we can get jealous, and jealousy is not an emotion you should be messing with. It is a very cancerous emotion that really does no good for you. So what are you supposed to do when you see that girl in your science class who seems to have it all?

Simple, write down all the things you admire about her (or all the things you admire about Amanda Bynes or someone famous.) Now the key thing here is to now just focus on hair or makeup or anything like that, yes looks may be one of the biggest things you admire about someone. But the key thing we’re trying to accomplish here is to realize that you can become your best self by using your admiration for others in a healthy manner. It is also really important to remember that as amazing as these people may look they truly don’t have it all, and they are far from perfect! That pretty girl in class may actually be a wreck inside because things in her life are actually going down hill for her. So we really shouldn’t put people on such a huge pedestal because we’re all human.

Two things to do to help you find your best you:
1. Write down 10 things you are grateful for in your life.

Examples: 1. My parents 2. My sister 3. My car 4. My wavy hair 5. my job 6. Having running water…you get the idea.

2. Now list out all the people you admire in this world, yes it may be a long list but you don’t have to go over every single person, just the one’s you feel really drawn to at the moment. Now list out the qualities you like about them. Are they really successful in their careers? Did they follow their heart and passions without really caring what others thought? Do they really have body peace and a healthy lifestyle? Etc…

Examples: Kandee Johnson– she has overcome so many obstacles in her life and yet still followed her heart and passions; she helps so many people with her advice, wisdom and optimism; she has a great faith in God that I truly admire; she is an entrepreneur despite everything.

Hayley Williams (from Paramore)- she does what she wants without caring about other people who may not agree or like it; she makes and lives by her own rules; she has an amazing voice and talent for music and song writing and isn’t afraid or ashamed of it; she truly follows her heart, gut and passions; she is “one of the boys” with her band mates, etc.

2.2– Now that you get how to write out these out and look at it as positively as possible you want to look back through them (possibly after giving it a while to settle in and think through it.) If you see patterns like “follow your heart” or “not caring what others think” take note of that! That should really tell you something about your life (and yes those are actually 2 examples from my own journal.) Now think about areas of your life you can implement these things.

When we see people doing what we wish we could do we tend to get even more down on ourselves or even jealous. This is definitely NOT the way we should go about it! Even if we read a book or watch a movie and see someone we admire we should ask ourselves “Why?” It can tell you a lot about what you truly want from life because you can’t actually be someone else you have to strive to be the best YOU. If you want to be more daring and try new things like your sister does than GO FOR IT! (Turn these things you notice into goals with small action steps you can take everyday so you really can become the best you possible!)

This is your life and you have to live it to its fullest everyday. Do what you want to do not what other want you to do. And please, please don’t get jealous of others because they are often fighting battles behind the scenes that would make you think twice about trading places. So go out there and love yourself! Be true to yourself and live life with all the love you can muster!

I love this quote because it truly shows us that we can become all those things we dream about in other people! We can follow our hearts, dreams and passions. We can be healthy and happy and in love just like everyone else on this planet! We can find our own style and look amazing, that’s part of following our hearts! You can truly become the best you possible and looking at others can help if we use them as a spring-board of positive inspiration and then take action towards those very things we admire in them.

Hi Guys! I’m just going to start out by saying basically what I’m here for. I truly believe I was put on this earth to inspire and help others. And also to be an entrepreneur and have the freedom to help even more people than I normally would. I will admit this site may be a little random, one day I may do a post related to living life to its fullest or advice on relationships and the next day I may post a song that inspired me and the next day link to another website that I think you’ll all enjoy.

I have a lot of ideas and dreams for this site but mostly it is about reaching out to people and helping and inspiring, but also to really achieve the other part of my dream-to be an entrepreneur and to graduate college debt free-I will have ads on the site. I will also occasionally link to products that I may be an affiliate for. But please don’t think I am scamming you or anything of the sort! I truly promise to never ever post something that I truly don’t believe in. I personally could not encourage you all to buy something that I wouldn’t waste my money on, or something that I tried and didn’t think was worth it. I will always keep that in mind when I post and link things. I’m not out to be a millionaire, just to use this as a platform for my dreams. Making money is second to me, inspiring my readers is truly what I’m here for. Like they say, follow your passions and the money will follow. I truly hope that is true and that is how my life will workout in the future. My hopes and prayers are with you that you may do the same!
